Indy's Day at the Vet

Indy had her yearly checkup and vaccines this weekend, she was a pretty good girl. Indy has lost 0.5 lbs since June which isn't the best, she does need to lose a pound or so because apparently that isn't all loose skin around shoulders! Right now she is 11.4 lbs.
We also found that she has a twisted jaw, on her lower jaw there is an over bite and an under bite and she also has a lot of twisted teeth. The Dr says it is because she has so many teeth crammed into her little mouth. What it does mean is that we will need to start brushing her teeth (and Gus's too!) and in the future she will need a teeth cleaning and perhaps a few pulled.
We also talked about Indy's left back leg, she has a luxating patella and so far it is doing ok. She has less muscle on that leg so we are going to find out some extra exercises she can do to build it back up. Indy had her nails cut as a well and surprisingly she did very well!! The tech gave her a chewie for the car ride home and of course she had a few treats from the cookie jar!

I am almost wondering if this blog should be renamed The Adventures of Gus because I swear in the short 2 years that I have had him, he has gotten into way more things/trouble/adventures then Indy or the cats have!

This weekend Gus somehow managed to get a dozen sugar cookies off the kitchen counter (Not a clue how.. unless a cat knocked it off). He ate them all Saturday evening and was fine when we got home from errands.

Sunday was a different story, he was very sick from both ends (sorry!) and while outside on a potty break so I could clean up inside, he proceeded to lay down on the wet grass in the rain and wouldn't come inside.

He spent most of the day shivering under a pile of blankets until late afternoon when he perked right up. All we did was mention kibble, he is completely fine now thankfully. And hopefully he will stay that way.

I don't know.....

We were using the step ladder the other day and had to go out to run some errands so we left it in the kitchen. When we came home, Misfit was sitting there, staring at it.

He sat there for a good 10, 15 minutes; not sniffing or licking or anything. Just staring.

He baffles me sometimes.

(Gus was embarrassed and in trouble with the garbage can lid, we came home and he was in the window wearing it so I had to stay outside until I stopped laughing. He was after I don't know what... since that garbage can only had paper garbage and sticker backings but he left the room a mess.)

My pumpkins this year are Jack Skeleton and Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I drew them freehand before carving.
Indy as Boo the Ghost. Impressed huh??

And Gus the Moo Cow! He doesn't mind his outfit that much at all.

Meet our new friend...

Meet Bella the puggle! She is 3 years old and belongs to one of the girls on my hubby's ball team. Bella is so sweet and cute and she howls just like a beagle!
She gets along fabulously with Gus and Indy, lots of kisses and wrestling.
Bella loves playing with the balls too, I have been bringing one for each of them but the only one who likes that idea is Indy, don't screw around with her green squeaky ball!
Gus likes to go after whoever is closest with the ball. Neither Indy or Bella share.
Gus doesn't like being so far away from me, but he was harassing Bella a bit too much so he got to stand back with my sister.

(And no Bella isn't named after Twilight.. lol I had to ask).

Finally, the Thanksgiving Recap

We were lucky enough to have two turkey dinners the other weekend, my grandmother cooked the family one and our friend C, cooked the other one.
She loves having us and the pugs over since she experiments all sorts of different recipes on us! This year the turkey was brined and stuffed with citrus: lemon, orange and grapefruits. It was to die for and the gravy had a great citrus taste.
Indy loves coming because she can follow C around the kitchen and she gets to try EVERYTHING! Apple, turnips, even basil but she spit that back out.
C put apple in the stuffing so the dogs got lots of apple.. poor C, she had little shadows the whole day.
This is Chase, he hates healthy foods, like apples but since Gus and Indy were chowing down, he had to make sure he didn't miss out!

Thank goodness it was the whites she decided to sleep on, instead of the darks.
Because for people that own two fawn pugs, we sure wear a lot of black clothes.

Morning Walkies

Our morning routine this summer changed quite a bit. I got up earlier then normal and took Gus and Indy for a walk. That way we could enjoy the sunshine when it wasn't boiling hot out. It worked really well for all of us, lots of exercise and a good way to wake up.

Now that Autumn is here, it's a bit more difficult, it's pitch black at 6am, so I shortened the walk so we could leave when the sun is rising. Once winter hits that will be impossible and our morning walks will end.

Dark or not, Gus and Indy are still enjoying their walks. I think they saw something in these pictures, they were very interested in what was under my car. At that time of the morning... I am not!

Its that time of the year where leaves fall of trees, the temperature drops and the squirrels run like mad men across your yard and house.
Publish Post Well in our house, squirrels stop and mock Gus and Indy so they must be chased after. They usually go up and over this fence but this time it went through a hole and Indy saw it. Do you think this deters the squirrels from returning? Nope!

We are starting to get excited about Halloween.. even though it is more then a month away. And even though that Thanksgiving comes first in a few weeks.
Misfit rarely poses for me where I can get a clear shot of him with any sort of definition so I take advantage of it when I can.

CSI MIAMI!

I started watching this show when CSI Vegas introduced it as a spin off, it was kind of cheesy. Then it was interesting and now it is back to being ultra cheesy. Monday's premiere is no exception, where we were treated to CSI Miami from the beginning (1997). So I decided to share some delightful highlights of my favorite parts of past episodes...

I've been lazy

I'm sorry, I have been really lazy lately with my blogging. There isn't any particular reason, I've been home, just hanging out. Waiting for all of my millions of shows to start.
Like House and Heroes tomorrow night along with CSI Miami and Castle. And don't get me started on my tv line up on Wednesday and Thursday. My husband shakes his head at me.
But it makes for ample pug cuddling time which is always good and then occasionally the cat gets involved which throws us all off balance.
The weather here has been bugnuts (one of my new favorite words). It got really chilly for a about a week, then it got super hot for a while and it has been pretty much back and forth with some rain thrown in!
It appears fall is here in Vancouver!

She doesn't run...

I think Indy prances. She leaps and hops across the yard, ears flapping and occasionally barking.
I love watching her hop around, she really reminds me of when she was a puppy. When we used her extendable leash she would hip and hop to the end and turn around and hip and hop back. Indy only full out runs if she is chasing Gus.I think in these pictures, she may have seen a squirrel.

They have been tormenting Indy and Gus lately, running right across the back and front yards and sitting in the driveway eating.

She doesn't really corner well, does she?

I like watching Gus run.
I think he kind of resembles a horse when he runs.
Also watching his ears flap around is so cute.
He loves to chase Indy and to play fetch, even though he rarely brings me back the ball.

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Not too much went down for us, hung around the house and watched tv. Lots of tv.. finally finished watching FireFly and then found a really bad copy of Serenity. Also found this new abc (?) show called Defying Gravity and it is really cool. Like Micheal Crichton in space.

It was the hubby's birthday over the weekend so I made him a cake Saturday while he was at work. And then Sunday I worked on my mom's birthday gift and took Gus and Indy out for a walk in the sunshine, the weather right now is very autumn-y.
