When Good Vaccines go Bad

Last Friday Gus was due to have his Rabies booster and it turned out after going through his vet history, he also needed pretty much every other vaccine known to man. So part of this poor guy's crappy day is my fault. :(

On our return ride home from Gus's appointment, he decided that he didn't want to digest his kibble anymore and all I can say is I am very happy I keep blankets on the back seat.
After we had been home for a few hours though, he started scratching at his face and then I noticed that poor Gus was very swollen!

Back to the vet we went for a nice calming shot of steroids which seemed to help but Gus was pretty itchy and uncomfortable for most of the night. He has bounced back to his normal crazy pug self but next time vaccines are due.. we are popping Benydral and spreading them out!

Poor Gus. Mommy doesn't like giving us vaccines either but there is no way around them - so like you, she tries to spread them out.

We're glad Gus is feeling better!

oh no poor Gus! We recently found out that the pug breed is notorious for allergies. It is the number one ailment for these little snorting piggies. From what we learn through our blogging friends this allergy business is a pain in the butt! Poor guy. We are glad to hear he bounced back the next day.

So sorry to hear about Gus' reaction to the vaccines. Our vet has Frenchies, so she recommended that we get Benadryl before any shots from the beginning.

Hope Gus is all normal sized again!
