Dinner at Mom's

About once a week when the hubby is home we head on over to my mom's for dinner. It is almost equivalent to a weekend at Bernie's. Minus the dead guy.
Last nights dinner involved myself, the hubby, my mom, my grandmother, my brother, his girlfriend and my father showed up later on.
There was also Gus and Indy, my parents two dogs - Licorice and Pepsi and my grandmother's dog, Max. All three are toy poodles. So there was a lot of pandemonium! Plus my poor grandmother is half crazy and pretty deaf! Then my brother.. he is still young, only 19 years old and I swear to god.. simple. Haha well that's mean but he says dumb things sometimes.
(Pepsi - she was the only I could get a clear picture of)

We were talking about future plans and the hubby mentioned he wanted a goat. Well my brother says he wants one too because when you kill one you get goat cheese.
Silence.
We are still laughing about it, the poor guy, we are just adding to the list of things he will never live down!

Valentine's Day at Grandma's!

Happy belated Valentine's Day! Saturday we went to my mom's and then my grandmother's house to hang out. My mom just got back from Mexico so it was really nice to see her! After we went to Grandma's house for the worst Pad Thai ever but it was lots of fun!
Gus and Indy had lots of fun racing around my grandmother's yard, Indy has to wear her harness now because she is able to slip out of her collar! But the harness fits her funny since she is a little roly poly. The hubby is out of town until Wednesday evening so my roommate and I watched Buffy the Vampire Season 1! It so cheesy, it's awesome.
On Sunday my roommate and I went to the new Green Walmart Power Centre. It was huge and it had a full grocery section. Plus a large outdoor shopping mall was built beside it. There was a cupcake store! We went in but it wasn't cheap, but the cupcakes looked so yummy. Maybe next time!
And there was a black pug puppy! He was 16 weeks old and so cute! All chubby and fluffy and he is about the same size as Indy. Unfortunately no pictures, I think the guy was afraid we were going to run off with his puppy.

** What is actually going on in these pictures is Indy biting Gus. He has the ball in his mouth and her highness is biting his ankles!! When Gus gets the ball Indy attacks him, biting all over while he either runs away or flops around like he doing in the above pictures. :)

Heart Attack on a Plate

Which is what I almost had yesterday after work with a side of panic. Indy gets reverse sneezes, pretty much since she was a puppy. Sometimes they are mild and it's like she is sniffing and occasionally they get kind of bad. I did some reading on it and a few ways to help calm the dog down enough to stop the reverse sneezing is massaging their neck and throat gently or plugging their nose to make them swallow. Because if they swallow it releases the tension on their trachea.
The nose plugging works on Gus but he hasn't had a really bad attack yet (knock on wood) but he is really loud, which makes sense because he also snores where Indy kind of snuffles.

So yesterday we are outside after work and Indy goes under the trees in the corner and she won't come out. She is just standing there staring at me. So I go and get her and she is reverse sneezing really badly. It actually sounded like she was choking and of course nothing to calm her down is working. So I let her be and then she lays down because she isn't breathing.  So yea full panic mode kicks in.
So I grab Indy, get Gus inside and race off to the vet. Halfway there she is fine, calm and staring at me. I ask her about kibble, she got all excited so I turned around and came home. It was an interesting evening to say the least! She bounced right back but we cuddled lots last night while watching tv. And today she is completely fine.

Just hanging Around

Hey! Hope everyone had a good weekend! Ours wasn't too bad, we went down to Bellingham yesterday for the afternoon. Had ourselves some deep fried goodness over at Jack in the Box. They just opened a new one and actually have the calories printed on the drive thru menu! It was kind of scary the amount of calories in a 3 pack of egg rolls!! 400!! Ew!! lol
My favorite store is Target though, lots of fun seasonal things, especially candy. I bought 3 different kinds of Hershey Kisses - cherry cordial, creme de minte and milk chocolate. Plus there was 3 other kinds. lol The cherry cordials are super yummy!
I am planning on using the candy for little Valentines Goody Bags to hand out at work. I will take some pictures when I am done. We also rented some movies this weekend, Traitor and Death Race. Traitor is with Don Cheadle and Guy Pierce and it was really good! Totally worth buying.
Death Race was super fun, a classic Jason Statham movie - swearing, violence and lots of action. I really enjoyed it

In other news Gus turned 2 on the 6th!! Yay Happy Birthday!! I admit to being a horrible pug mom and not doing anything special for our little man. But he got lots of cuddles and cookies anyways.

Wack a Mole

Meet Skitz.. I mean Galore. This is her favorite spot in the whole house. Although lately she has been spending more time on the couch obsessed with the squirrel that lives in the attic. It comes out of the roof right about the living room window, waving it's tail in triumph. Then she picks at the couch in frustration, I yell, and the dogs chase her off. It's a nasty cycle, like me pulling Gus's toys out of his mouth while he is on the couch and dumping them on to the floor.
Tonight I tried Bikram yoga for the first time in my life. Wow. All I can say is wow. I have to say I do know most, if not all the poses, so that wasn't bad. The part that made me spend most of the beginning of the class laying on the ground was the heat! It was a sweat bath in there! The instructor said the humidity was 36% but he didn't know how hot it was. But I will be back, I feel great right now! So it was definitely worth it.

SuperBowl Weekend

So this weekend was a good one, the hubby was home and we had a superbowl party! But first things first, the pugs desperately needed a bath. They were past the whole cute puppy smell stage and on to just plain rank.
Indy doesn't like baths, usually she runs and hides while I bath Gus first but lately she has been going first.
Gus gets super excited about the whole idea. He loves to watch the water in the tub and watch Indy getting scrubbed. Sometimes I think he may just jump in there on his own.
Oh yea.. so impressed! We have been using the lavender shampoo from 4 Wee Beasties. It makes them smell so yummy as well as soft and fluffy!
Is it my turn yet??

Free! After bath time involves chasing Indy around the bathroom with a towel, she gets very vocal with me as well. It was so cute, I came out of the bathroom carrying her in the towel and Gus didn't see. He raced into the bathroom to find her and then back into the living room. He was panicked he couldn't find her until he noticed Indy was in my arms. Such a sweet boy.
Now it's his turn, notice how yucky the bath water is??? They were totally over due for a cleaning.
Poor boy looks so worried! I finally got to use the furminator on them. I had to put their collars on and get the hubby to hold them since they wouldn't stay still. Gus gets bored and if I'm not careful, it tickles Indy. We were amazed with the fur we got out of Gus! It was so soft and fleecy too! We didn't get as much from Indy though. You can see the differences in color.. Indy has the lightes fur at the bottom of the picture.
And of course the cat had to get involved too! Misfit loves being brushed and he was dying to get brushed with the furminator. He was pulling himself all long the floor around me. The only problem I found is that the cat hair didn't really stay in the brush, it kind of fluffed all over the place!
Then they had some recovery time, bathing is very stressful.

Sunday we had some friends over to watch the game. We were dispointed that one of the canadian stations (CTV) had bought the rights to air the superbowl in BC (I'm not sure if it was like that all over Canada). So we didn't get to watch any american commercials. Very disappointed in that. But I saw most of the movie ads!! Very excited about movies this summer... lol
